Ghost of Yotei Complete Edition arrives on PS5 on October 1. In the official PlayStation Blog post, Sucker Punch says on October 1, we’ll have a new narrative expansion, new single-player combat survival mode, and new quality of life updates just in time for the game’s one-year anniversary.
Echoes of Sekigahara is the new story
The paid story drop is Ghost of Yotei: Echoes of Sekigahara. Specifically, it splits Atsu’s time between the present in Ezo and flashbacks to the mainland. You meet Nagato, a figure from her past. In the present you explore a valley once held by The Snake and the Vipers. In the past you fight through the Battle of Sekigahara, a key beat before her revenge quest at home.
Sucker Punch also promises new enemies, heavy weapons, armor sets, and dyes. That is all official marketing. The studio says it will share more before October 1.
Most Wanted is a roguelike bounty run
Meanwhile, Ghost of Yotei: Most Wanted is a new single-player combat survival mode. You take bounties to start runs. Beating enemies earns perks and unlocks extra characters. The official trailer shows Atsu on dual katana, Oyuki on kusarigama, and Nagato on yari. Also, the studio wants the same combat-reel crowd that already fills social feeds to chase clean runs here.
What $69.99 and $14.99 actually buy
If you do not own the game, Ghost of Yotei Complete Edition is $69.99. That SKU includes the main campaign, Ghost of Yotei Legends (online co-op for up to four players, plus a Raid), Echoes of Sekigahara, Most Wanted, Digital Deluxe extras, and the Charm of Hokkyokusei. Buy it now and you can play the base game and Legends immediately. The new expansion and Most Wanted land in a patch on October 1.
However, owners of the original game do not need the $70 box. The Complete Edition Upgrade is $14.99. Pre-order that and you unlock Digital Deluxe content and the Charm immediately if you never bought them. Pre-order by September 30 and you also get an early unlock of the Sakai Armor on October 1, a nod to Jin’s family armor from Ghost of Tsushima.
As a result, the $15 upgrade is the SKU that matches most players who already finished Atsu’s story. Online Legends still needs PlayStation Plus. The October 1 patch is v.2.0 worldwide, and October 2 in some territories including Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.
The free patch is not the Complete Edition
Every owner still gets a free October 1 patch even without the upgrade. That drop adds Beauty of Yotei, a screensaver-style view of Ezo for Photo Mode. It also adds new Watanabe Mode tracks across the whole game. Quality-of-life bits include keeping one armor set’s look while using another set’s stats, plus a high-contrast accessibility option. Besides those free tools, the Complete Edition itself adds new photo mode stamps, extra New Game Plus cosmetics, and trophies for Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted.
Sucker Punch updated the blog on August 14 to correct one detail. New Watanabe Mode tracks were first listed as Complete Edition features. They now ship in the free patch. Treat that correction as the official line.
This sits next to the other big 2026 game calendars we already tracked. GTA 6 pre-orders opened on a different timeline. Also, Square Enix’s Final Fantasy Resonance is another October date on the same shelf. Ghost of Yotei is using the anniversary window instead of a sequel announcement.
Until October 1, the only playable Complete Edition content is the original game and Legends. Instead of a day-one dump, Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted stay locked behind that patch. Then the anniversary window opens. The studio says you need an internet connection and a PlayStation account to download it.
